This service is dedicated to maintaining the oral health of your dog or cat. The veterinary dentist/oral surgeon diagnoses and provides treatment for diseases of the dentition, oral cavity, and maxillofacial region.
TREATMENTS
INCLUDE:
- Root canal therapy for fractured and infected teeth
- Restorations for caries (cavities) and enamel defects
- Metal crowns to strengthen fractured teeth
- Removal of tumors of the jaw bones and facial area
- Correction of congenital palate defects and fractures of facial bones
- Extraction of impacted teeth and diseased molar teeth
- Therapy for oral inflammation such as stomatitis and gingivitis, destructive periodontal disease, and resorption of teeth in cats
Diagnostic tests include digital dental radiographs to evaluate diseases of the dentition. Dental radiographs are invaluable in evaluating the 70 % of the tooth that cannot be seen. Lesions that may be seen using radiographs include root abscess, root fracture, root and crown resorption, dental anomalies, bone lysis associated with oral tumors, and jaw fractures. MRI and CT scans are also available to assess the invasiveness of oral and facial tumors.
