Avian and Exotics veterinarians
aim to restore and maintain the health of many
different non-domestic species kept as pets. We
provide information regarding the special husbandry
needs and basic care of these special species,
offer wellness programs to maintain pet health,
and as a referral center, we provide advanced
diagnostic and treatment methods. Our full time
veterinarians are residency trained in all aspects
of exotic pet care. Our facility includes a dedicated
exotics ward, allowing us to offer 24 hour monitored
hospitalization in an area designed to provide
the best support while minimizing stress on our
patients. We also interact closely with the other
services in the hospital (medicine, surgery, oncology,
cardiology, dermatology, physical rehabilitation,
etc.) to provide the most well rounded approach
to your pet’s care.
Diagnostics and Treatments
we provide include:
• Imaging
- Digital radiography, Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy,
Helical Computed Tomography (CT) Scanning,
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
• Anesthesia
– We have specialized equipment for administering
anesthesia
to and monitoring vital signs of exotic
patients. Patients requiring anesthesia may
be supported with intravenous or intraosseous
fluid therapy, convective
heat, positive pressure mechanical ventilation,
blood pressure monitoring,
cardiac monitors and a dedicated anesthesia
technician. Thermostatically controlled
incubators are used to house patients recovering
from surgical, endoscopic and other
anesthetic procedures.
• Surgery –
We offer a wide range of soft tissue and orthopedic
procedures.
We can perform any surgical procedure necessary
for small mammals, reptiles and birds.

routine occlusal adjustments and trims,
extractions and abscess debridements, routine
ultrasonic scaling and dental prophylaxis
for ferrets.
• ONCOLOGY
– With the availability of our highly skilled
oncology department,
we welcome client referrals who are
interested in exploring available options for
their pet. This is a new and exciting
era for exotic pets and oncology alike
and we will do everything we can to
extend and preserve quality of life for
our patients.
Appointments are available seven days a week
with evening appointments generally available
three nights per week (Please call to confirm
availability).
Emergency cases accepted at all times and a senior
clinician is on call every night. The emergency
veterinary staff and interns are trained to triage
and stabilize patients until they are transferred
to the Avian & Exotics Service the following
day. It is our goal to minimize ‘walk-in’
emergency cases as much as possible to reduce
wait time. If possible, please call ahead so that
we may fill an appointment slot. If an avian/exotic
veterinarian does not have an available appointment,
an emergency doctor or general practitioner may
see the case and obtain a consultation.

ALL pets must be in an
appropriate carrier or they will not be
permitted into the reception area or hospital.
This is very important for the safety of the pet
